Misericordia University
Insalaco Hall
Dallas, PA
Overlooking the heart of the campus, this mixed-use building serves students, faculty, and the general public as a teaching and conferencing center. It is home to an enhanced auditorium, a small performance space, the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery, a conference center, fine arts and general use classrooms, faculty offices, and the University’s Business Department.
The linear structure helps to give shape and order to the central green space of the campus. The extensive use of glass is offset by masonry piers and pylons that are distinctly ”Misericordian” in character and visually connect the center to other campus structures. The split level and two-story components take advantage of the gentle slope in the site topography, integrating the building with the rolling hills upon which the campus sits.
