Weiss Hall is a new 90,000+ sf facility, focusing on Workforce Development and community outreach. Built under the premise of Jesuit, one of the main focal spaces in the facility is located on the first floor and is an innovation center of sorts. It is a 3,500 sf innovation workspace that includes a wood shop with direct exhaust, various 3D printing equipment. This space is not only a hands on makerspace to support STEM like activities, but it also houses virtual reality and podcast spaces, as well as collaborative classrooms.
This lab is outfitted to not only used by the students of the University but also to be utilized by the community & various industries in the region. Because of this cross use platform, the usability and accessibility to all equipment was critical and at the forefront of the design.
