St. Ann’s Basilica
Scranton, PA
In 1997, hc architects carefully restored this 1929 Maginnis and Walsh Romanesque Revival historic monastery church following its elevation to a basilica by Pope John Paul II. The sanctuary redesign reflects Vatican II liturgical requirements, while the lighting, acoustics, and HVAC meet contemporary standards without compromising the historic architecture. The basilica has become a national shrine to St. Ann to which thousands make the pilgrimage each year to pray a novena within its beautifully restored walls.
